Galactus Play: A Strategy That Never Gets Old in Marvel Snap

superadmin

Galactus, the devourer of worlds, has a popular strategy in Marvel Snap known as the Galactus play. This strategy involves destroying the other two locations to make it a one-location play in the end. However, there are two conditions that need to be met for this powerful effect to activate, and the opponent can often counter it.

To activate Galactus’ game-changing ability, the player must be winning the desired location where Galactus will be played. Additionally, Galactus must be the only card present in that location to trigger the destruction of the other two locations. If either of these conditions is not met, Galactus’ ability won’t succeed.

A Reddit user named hahaxx123 shared a clip on Aug. 29, showcasing how their opponent countered the Galactus play. They played Debri on turn six, placing a rock on the Galactus location, which prevented the activation of Galactus’ location-destruction ability. Despite this setback, the player had a clever plan to pump up Galactus’ Power.

The player utilized the Wong and Mystique setup, triggering all On Reveal effects on that setup at least four times (Mystique copies Wong’s Ongoing ability to trigger On Reveal abilities twice). They then played Forge, whose On Reveal ability gives plus two Power to the next card played. Finally, they played Odin, who re-activates all On Reveal abilities on the same location where he is played.

This Wong and Mystique setup with Forge and Odin became the catalyst for creating a 55-Power Galactus, ensuring that his ability would be triggered. Although Debri prevented the destruction of locations, the enormous Power generated by the player secured their win on the left Monster Metropolis location. Galactus became the card with the highest Power there, earning a bonus three Power boost.

The player ultimately won the match by creating negative seven, 21, and 58-Power on the three locations, securing victories on the middle and left locations. The Reddit post received nearly 200 upvotes and praise from users for the high IQ play demonstrated, despite the failed destruction of locations. Galactus may not have devoured the other locations, but thanks to his friends, he became invincible.
