Game designer Stephen “Mortdog” Mortimer hosted a charity stream on Oct. 21, raising more than $25,000 for Gamers Outreach. During the stream, he also provided two exciting teasers for the upcoming Set 10 of Teamfight Tactics.
Mortdog’s Twitch stream aimed to raise funds for Gamers Outreach, an organization that creates gaming carts for children in hospitals. To encourage donations, Mortdog offered various incentives, including entertaining activities like a father-and-daughter TFT game, Mortdog dancing, and letting a special guest control his gameplay. The top donation items included leaks about TFT Set 10 and Mortdog getting a Teamfight Tactics tattoo.
After an impressive 20-hour stream, Mortdog successfully completed the charity event, surpassing his goal by raising a total of $25,070.69. He expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming generosity and kindness of the community.
As promised, Mortdog will fulfill the following pledges before the end of the year:
- Getting a TFT Tattoo
- Streaming Chrono Trigger
- Shaving his head or dyeing his hair
In addition to the TFT tattoo, Mortdog will either shave his head or dye his hair. Given his desire to avoid resembling someone else, it is likely that he will opt for hair dye. The incentive sheet initially set a goal of $20,000, but the community’s generosity exceeded expectations by over $5,000.
The funds raised during the charity stream are a significant contribution to Gamers Outreach, and fans eagerly awaiting TFT Set 10 reveals were not disappointed. Prior to unveiling the first champion, Mortdog shared a major spoiler: “There are changes to the leveling system.”
The leveling system is a fundamental aspect of the auto battler, influencing rolling odds and economy. More details about these changes will be revealed soon, as the PBE launch of TFT Set 10 is expected between Oct. 31 and Nov. 2. Once the $10,000 goal was reached, Mortdog unveiled the first champion for Set 10.
“Karthus is making a comeback as a four-cost champion, using his Ult as his spell,” announced Mortdog. Karthus’s return is highly anticipated since he hasn’t been seen in TFT since Set One. In the previous set, Karthus was a five-cost champion, and his shift to four-cost may be related to the upcoming changes in the leveling system.
The donations continued to pour in, leading to the second champion reveal at $15,000. Joining Karthus in TFT Set 10 is Amumu, now a three-cost champion. Previously a five-cost champion, Amumu now has a passive ability that grants him stacking armor when taking damage, a low mana cost, and a unique spin attack that hits nearby enemies, according to Mortdog.
Players and fans can continue to contribute to Gamers Outreach and support hospitalized children. As for those eagerly awaiting TFT Set 10, they can look forward to playtesting on the PBE servers from Oct. 31 to Nov. 2.
