Garfield, the lasagna-loving feline, has joined the brawl in Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2. With a revamped moveset and hilarious abilities, he’s proving to be a formidable fighter.
Garfield’s moveset includes powerful smash attacks, a combo-starting drill attack, and annoying pie projectiles. But what sets him apart is his invincible neutral special that can send opponents flying and even secure early kills.
Comparisons can be drawn to Fox McCloud from Super Smash Bros. Melee, known for his dominance in competitive play. Garfield shares many similarities with Fox, including a combo potential and a powerful move that can lead to kills.
Players have already discovered that Garfield can perform the Thunders combo, a popular sequence in Melee. This means he can combo into his strongest attacks off of a drill, giving Garfield players a significant advantage.
But Garfield isn’t the only Melee character making waves in NASB2. Grandma Gertie from Hey Arnold! feels remarkably similar to Captain Falcon, electrifying players with her speed and knee attack.
Melee players have been using Gertie to great success in NASB2, showcasing her potential in online matches. In a session between top Melee players moky and Zain, moky’s Gertie dominated Zain’s Donatello, landing an impressive triple-knee combo.
As a competitive Melee player myself, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed playing NASB2. It’s been a seamless transition to apply my platform fighter knowledge and technical skills to this exciting new game. However, I hope getting combo’d by Garfield isn’t as frustrating as facing Fox at low percentages.
