Despite high expectations, Gekko, the VALORANT agent, has failed to make an impact in professional play. Throughout the VCT 2023 season, not a single player achieved a positive K/D ratio with Gekko. Even the best player on the agent, qRaxs from FUT, only managed a 0.96 K/D ratio.
On the surface, Gekko’s abilities seem powerful. His Wingman can fire a concussive blast and plant the spike, while his Mosh Pit acts as a molotov-style ability. Additionally, Dizzy can be a potent flash, and his ultimate, Thrash, allows for detaining enemies. However, despite these strong abilities, Gekko’s impact in the meta remained lackluster.
The reason behind Gekko’s underperformance lies in the fact that K/D ratio is not the sole determinant of success in tactical shooters. Gekko’s kit is designed to set up kills for teammates rather than securing kills himself. While his abilities are useful for team play, they do not necessarily translate into high fragging power.
It is important to note that Gekko’s true value lies in his kit’s ability to create opportunities for his team. His balanced abilities make him a valuable asset, but not necessarily the star player. Despite the lack of fragging power, Gekko remains a useful agent in the right hands.
Agent | Highest K/D Ratio | Kills | Deaths |
---|---|---|---|
Gekko | 0.96 | 122 | 127 |
