Gekko mains have been buzzing with excitement over a major buff to one of the LA-based VALORANT initiator’s abilities since the release of Patch 7.04. However, fans of the agent will be disappointed to learn that this power increase was unintentional and will not remain in the game for long.
Mosh Pit, an ability where Gekko throws a creature that expands on the ground before detonating, received an unintended buff as part of the 7.04 changes. The patch was meant to intentionally buff the ability with 10 points of damage per second to anyone standing in its radius before it explodes.
However, players quickly noticed that Mosh Pit was actually dealing closer to 30 points of damage per second after Patch 7.04 launched. With a three-second windup, Mosh Pit was inadvertently dealing a total of 90 points of damage before exploding, making it a much more powerful ability. Even fully healthy and armored players within the ability’s outer radius could be killed by the damage per second and explosion damage.
In its current state, Gekko’s Mosh Pit has become one of the most potent tools for post-plants and clearing enemy players out of hiding spots, comparable to abilities like Killjoy’s Nanoswarm and Brimstone’s Incendiary Grenade.
However, the days of this overpowered Mosh Pit are numbered. Riot has promised to revert the ability to the intended 10 points of damage per second with the release of Patch 7.05 on September 6. Even after the damage is corrected, Mosh Pit will still be more viable than before, just not at the super-powered level it currently holds. So, enjoy it while you can.
