A graphic designer on Twitter has come up with some clever mock additions to VALORANT’s user interface (UI) that could help players improve their gameplay or remind teammates to use their abilities. While these additions are not real, they serve as humorous reminders to increase awareness and enhance team strategy.
Crews Varner, the graphic designer, has been sharing daily UI designs on Twitter that seamlessly blend into VALORANT’s existing interface. One of the mock popups reads, “You have not used your ultimate in the previous 5 rounds. If you do not use it within the next round, your account will receive a ranked suspension for 24 hours.” These popups range from personal reminders to suggestions for team strategy, and even more playful prompts like voting to steal money from a forgetful Killjoy who neglects to use her Alarmbot.
Varner strikes a perfect balance between constructive criticism and lighthearted humor, capturing relatable mistakes that players often make in Riot’s tactical shooter. The prompts are designed to look like they could be part of the game’s actual interface, adding to their authenticity.
Another creative addition by Varner is a new type of barrier that appears when a team repeatedly fails at a specific strategy. This barrier prevents the team from attempting the same strategy again and encourages them to try a different approach. For example, the message on the barrier might read, “Your team has attacked this site 7 times with 0 successful round wins. This barrier will stay up during the next round so that you’ll try attacking another site.” Such a feature would be helpful for teams stuck in a repetitive cycle of unsuccessful tactics.
Varner also acknowledges the often-overlooked role of controller players in VALORANT. Controllers are frequently the last agents to be picked, with some teams even going without smokes because no one wants to play Brimstone for an entire game. Varner’s mock UI includes an option to leave a tip for a teammate who mains a controller, appreciating their contribution to the team’s success.
While these mock additions may never become part of the actual VALORANT game, they serve as reminders for players to be more aware of their mistakes and appreciate their teammates’ efforts. Varner’s creative designs add a touch of humor to the gaming experience and encourage players to improve their gameplay.
