Hanzo Disabled in Overwatch 2 Due to Game-Breaking Bug

Xavier Ward

Overwatch 2 players were in for a spooky surprise as a major bug in Hanzo’s kit caused his damage potential to skyrocket. The bug allowed players to spam full damage arrows without charging them, resulting in devastating attacks. Blizzard quickly took action and disabled Hanzo from all modes until a fix could be implemented.

The bug was related to Hanzo’s toggle primary fire control option, which was introduced in a recent update. This feature changed the way Hanzo shoots by requiring players to press the fire button twice instead of holding it down. However, with the toggle on, players discovered that spamming the fire button after releasing a fully charged arrow would result in consecutive shots flying at full speed and dealing full damage.

While the bug was not consistent and required specific conditions to trigger, its overpowered nature led Blizzard to disable Hanzo temporarily. This decision was made to ensure fair gameplay and maintain balance in the game.

This is not the first time Overwatch has faced issues with overpowered features in the new season. Another example is the Dark Souls roll Cassidy buff, which gave the DPS hero an ability that made them surprisingly tanky. Despite being an intended buff, players found it unusual for a DPS hero to have such high survivability.
