Hearthstone, the popular card game by Blizzard, is gearing up for its 10th anniversary next year. In an effort to make the game more accessible and appealing to returning players, the developers have announced several exciting updates at this year’s BlizzCon opening ceremony.
One of the major changes is the introduction of catch-up mechanics for returning players. Instead of the usual five cards, they will now receive packs containing 50 individual cards. These packs will exclusively feature cards from the last two years, making them immediately usable in constructed play. This follows a similar initiative from last year, where players who had taken a break from the game were given up to 150 free packs as a welcome-back gift.
Additionally, Hearthstone will be launching a new expansion called “Showdown in the Badlands.” This expansion will delve into the origin story of beloved characters Reno Jackson and Elise Starseeker, adding depth and excitement to the game.
The Hearthstone Battlegrounds community also has reason to celebrate, as a new “duos” mode will be introduced. This mode allows players to team up and work cooperatively in Battlegrounds, fostering a sense of camaraderie and strategic gameplay.
With these enticing updates and catch-up mechanisms, Hearthstone aims to entice players back into the game and ensure its continued success as it enters a new decade. The Showdown in the Badlands expansion is set to launch on November 14th, with the catch-up mechanics and new game modes rolling out in the near future.
