Hidden Easter Egg on Rust Map in Modern Warfare 3 Pays Homage to Iconic Moment from Modern Warfare 2

Derek Morgan

Longtime fans of Call of Duty will be delighted to discover a special Easter egg on the Rust map in Modern Warfare 3. This hidden homage references a significant moment from the iconic Modern Warfare 2 game released in 2009.

The Easter egg was first discovered by video game developer LucaBoechat on November 26. It features a skull with a knife lodged in its right eye socket, buried in the sand. This pays tribute to the memorable ending of the Modern Warfare 2 campaign, where Captain Price throws a knife at General Shepard during their confrontation. This act of throwing the blade occurs after Price’s betrayal by the general earlier in the campaign.

Although the Easter egg may be easily overlooked while playing, it can be found on the Rust map in any available playlist. To locate it, head towards the area with the buildings and the giant metal structure in the center. By looking towards the ground, you will spot this incredible Easter egg from the MW2 campaign ending in 2009.

While it may be challenging to find the hidden Easter egg during an ongoing MW3 match, as the gameplay can be chaotic, it is undoubtedly present. If you happen to get killed while searching for it, don’t be discouraged. However, if you want to spot the skull more quickly, try finding the metal ramp on the central structure and walk directly towards the side buildings.

This Easter egg serves as a nostalgic nod to a significant moment in the Call of Duty series, which fans will appreciate. Rust, being a multiplayer battlefield since its introduction in Modern Warfare 2, adds to the sentimentality.

This discovery also raises the question of whether there are more hidden Easter eggs on Rust or any other maps in Modern Warfare 3. It’s time to embark on a hunting adventure to find out!
