Popular esports personality and KOI co-owner, Ibai Llanos, is rumored to be parting ways with Infinite Reality. According to reports, Llanos has been in negotiations for months regarding his departure and is currently working on a new project. Despite this, he will still retain ownership of the KOI brand.
Infinite Reality is the company that Llanos and fellow KOI co-owner Gerard Piqué joined when their team merged with Rogue for the 2023 League of Legends season. The addition of KOI to the LEC generated significant excitement, but the organization failed to meet the high expectations placed upon them throughout the year.
KOI’s underwhelming performance can be attributed to their inability to break into the top tier of the league, resulting in early playoff exits and struggles against lower-ranked teams. This has left fans disappointed and now, it seems that the face of the franchise, Ibai Llanos, may be seeking better opportunities elsewhere.
There have also been reports of financial issues within Infinite Reality, leading to delayed payments for content creators, players, and the LEC license. Allegedly, Llanos had to use his own money, amounting to three million euros, to cover these expenses, including the team’s Academy gaming house.
Despite the challenges faced by KOI and Infinite Reality, Ibai Llanos remains a prominent figure in the esports community. His departure from the organization and the upcoming announcement of his new project are sure to generate further interest and anticipation among fans.
