Players are questioning the value of exploration in Diablo 4’s open-world concept. Once the campaign is completed, the focus shifts to repetitive end-game events, leaving little incentive to explore the expansive map.
While Nightmare Dungeons are important for leveling and loot farming, they lack excitement and variety. This is where open-world exploration could have added much-needed depth to the game.
Currently, there is no real reward for exploring the lands after completing the campaign. Although players can earn renown by locating waypoints, clearing cellars, finding Altars of Lilith, and completing dungeons, these activities do not offer significant benefits on their own.
Diablo 4’s open-world concept had the potential for hidden areas, secret passages, and elusive chests with high-level gear. Implementing such features would make exploration enjoyable and rewarding. However, as it stands, many players consider it a “waste of content.”
Some players argue that activities like World Bosses, Helltides, and side quests still exist for completionists. However, since these activities do not reward glyph experience, many players fail to see the point in pursuing them.
Overall, Diablo 4’s open-world concept falls short of expectations. Hopefully, future updates will bring significant changes to enhance the exploration aspect of the game.
