Jax’s new fishing animation in League of Legends has left players excited and hopeful for the inclusion of fishing in Riot’s upcoming MMO set in the Runeterra universe. In Patch 13.1, Jax received an update that allowed him to fish, but it lacked an animation. However, this has now been rectified, and Jax can be seen fishing in the river, earning a gold coin. This addition has sparked speculation about the potential inclusion of fishing and other professions in the upcoming MMO.
In MMOs, professions such as fishing, cooking, alchemy, and blacksmithing are not new concepts. They add an element of fun and can lead to obtaining rare items and additional quests. Many players hope to see fishing and other Runeterra-based professions like Hextech crafting, Chemtech Engineering, or Potion crafting in the MMO. These professions could involve traversing different lands to collect various resources and using them for crafting or selling purposes.
One example of a crafting system that players would love to see is the alchemy system in Elder Scrolls. It allows players to combine ingredients to create potions, with the possibility of success or failure. This adds an element of discovery and experimentation to the gameplay.
While not much is known about the League MMO, it is based in the Runeterra universe and is being developed by a team led by Greg Street, who has experience working on World of Warcraft. This has raised hopes that the MMO will incorporate beloved aspects from WoW and other successful MMOs.
Other features from popular MMOs and RPGs, such as fishing catalogs from FF14 or the Notorious Mark catalog from FF16, could also be great additions to the League MMO. These catalogs provide players with a variety of fishing options or rare items to pursue, adding depth and excitement to the gameplay.
Although the League MMO is still several years away from release, the enthusiasm surrounding Jax’s fishing animation and the desire for professions in the game may influence the developers to include such features. As they continue to work on this highly anticipated MMO, there is a possibility that a profession system will be implemented to enhance the overall gaming experience.
