League of Legends Champions Set to Receive Damage Nerfs in Upcoming Patch 13.21

Derek Morgan

League of Legends players can expect some changes to their favorite champions in the upcoming Patch 13.21. Six champions, including Briar, Jinx, Caitlyn, Aurelion Sol, Dr. Mundo, and Rammus, will receive early game and scaling damage nerfs. These changes are set to roll out next week on October 25th.

The preseason patch for season 14 is highly anticipated, but in the meantime, players can look forward to these adjustments. Matt “Phroxzon” Leung-Harrison, the gameplay designer for League of Legends, revealed the champions who will be affected by the nerfs on October 17th.

While some of these nerfs may come as a surprise, such as the one targeting Caitlyn, they are deemed necessary by the developers. Caitlyn’s win rate across all ranks is currently at 49.61 percent, and her Lethality build is also underperforming. The damage nerfs in Patch 13.21 may further impact her standing unless her core items receive buffs.

On the other hand, the nerfs to Briar are welcomed by players who have been struggling with her jungle clear and overall impact on the game. Although the changes may not be significant, the developers hope they will reduce her power while still keeping her a threat in the midgame.

Jinx, Aurelion Sol, and Rammus will see reductions in their early game or scaling damage. This adjustment aims to limit their burst damage potential, which has made them formidable champions in League of Legends. Dr. Mundo, known for his massive health bar, will also receive a nerf, especially considering his near-53 percent win rate.

It is unfortunate that these champions, who have recently become viable in ranked play after a long time at the bottom of the tier list, will be knocked down a few pegs. However, the developers believe these changes are necessary for the overall balance of the game.

Patch 13.21 is scheduled to arrive on the Rift next week, bringing these champion nerfs along with it. Players should prepare for the adjustments and adapt their strategies accordingly.
