League of Legends Lore Inconsistencies Addressed by Riot Games

Derek Morgan

Riot Games has confirmed that the popular animated series, Arcane, is now considered canon in the League of Legends universe. This revelation has sparked discussions among fans about the discrepancies between the show’s plot and existing lore. From missing characters to changes in backstories, the impact of Arcane’s canon status is far-reaching.

One Reddit thread highlighted the fact that American band Imagine Dragons now has more canonical lore than one of the game’s own champions, Shaco. This newfound knowledge has raised questions about other inconsistencies in the League universe, such as Heimerdinger’s shift from being anti-Hextech to embracing it wholeheartedly.

Another point of contention is the portrayal of Seraphine’s lore conflicting with Skarner’s established traits. Fans are calling for recognition of Skarner’s role in the creation of Hextech crystals, as depicted in the show.

Ekko’s character and design in Arcane also differ from his depiction in the game, leading to comments about the need to restore his joyful personality.

Interestingly, a Twitter user who claims to have met Imagine Dragons in person now believes that the band is also canon in the Runeterra universe. This further blurs the line between reality and fiction.

As Riot Games expands the League of Legends universe through various media, including games, comics, stories, and shows, it is inevitable that some discrepancies will arise. However, fans hope that these inconsistencies will be addressed and resolved, especially with the upcoming MMO on the horizon.

Despite the discrepancies, fans eagerly anticipate the release of Arcane season two in 2024, hoping for the inclusion of more beloved characters. In the meantime, the League community will continue to scrutinize the lore, whether or not Riot plans to rectify the inconsistencies.

Table: Lore Inconsistencies in League of Legends

Character Inconsistency
Heimerdinger Shift from anti-Hextech to embracing it
Seraphine Contradiction with Skarner’s traits
Skarner Not recognized for his role in creating Hextech crystals
Ekko Different personality and design in Arcane
