League of Legends has introduced a new champion named Briar, who brings a unique and daring playstyle to the game. Her ultimate ability, Certain Death, allows her to launch a high-speed missile that homes in on her target and instantly transports her to melee range with them. However, one player recently discovered the unfortunate consequences of using this ability on a target that was located across the entire Summoner’s Rift.
In a video shared on the League subreddit, a Briar player successfully hit an enemy player with Certain Death (R). The catch? The enemy player was in a completely different lane, positioned under a tower. This resulted in the Briar player meeting their own certain death.
The clip begins with the Briar player engaged in a battle in the mid lane alongside their jungler. The opposing mid-jungle duo put up a fierce fight, but after eliminating the enemy Hecarim, the Briar player and their teammate were left facing a Yasuo. Unfortunately, the Briar player’s Certain Death missed its mark and veered off to the right as Yasuo retreated towards their tower. Instead of staying in the mid lane fight, the Briar player found themselves colliding with a Sion who was situated on the opposite side of the map.
Due to the nature of Briar’s ultimate ability, which automatically transports her to the target hit, the Briar player embarked on a long journey across the Rift, leaving the mid lane battle behind. Meanwhile, the Sion player was utilizing their own ultimate ability, Unstoppable Onslaught, to return to the bottom lane. However, their path was unexpectedly intercepted by the approaching Briar, who successfully landed Certain Death on them. Like two converging points, the two players coincidentally met under the Sion player’s outer bottom lane tower.
Being in the wrong place at the wrong time led to the Briar player’s untimely demise, while the Yasuo player they could have easily eliminated in the mid lane made a safe retreat to their fountain. Ultimately, the Sion/Yasuo team emerged victorious, with the Sion player boasting an impressive score of 12/1/7, as reported by League stats site op.gg.
