On October 24th, the League of Legends community came to a consensus on champions that have no impact on the game’s lore. These champions could be removed without affecting the overall story of Runeterra. According to players, the ultimate meaningless champion is Shaco.
Shaco, an enchanted marionette, lacks any substantial lore. All we know is that he was once a plaything for a lonely prince until he became corrupted by dark magic and the loss of his beloved charge. Now, all he does is commit murder and laugh hysterically.
Fans appreciate the fact that Shaco has no lore because it aligns with his character. He is a mysterious entity that defies understanding. He belongs to no species, faction, or nation. He simply exists.
Another champion deemed insignificant is Cho’Gath, the terror of the Void. Interestingly, Cho’Gath’s story does not revolve around him but rather focuses on describing the nature of the Void itself. It briefly mentions Cho’Gath as a highly intelligent creature that feeds on the Void’s prey.
Players view Cho’Gath not as a physical character, but as a representation of the danger posed by the Void. Some believe that Cho’Gath’s potential impact on the lore is being saved for something special. One suggestion was to introduce Cho’Gath and the rest of the Void at their full strength through a cataclysmic event in a potential MMO set in Runeterra.
It is worth noting that while Shaco and Cho’Gath may lack significant lore, they still hold value as playable champions in the game.
