Riot Games has announced that League of Legends will be reintroducing item stacking, allowing players to purchase multiple items with unique passives. However, there is a catch – the power level of items will be reduced to prevent stacking from becoming too overpowering. This change aims to create a balance between stacking items and maintaining fair gameplay.
Lead designer Matt “Riot Phroxzon” Leung-Harrison clarified that while stacking is making a comeback, it will not be the same as before. Players will be able to buy items like Infinity Edge and Trinity Force, but the effects of stacking similar items will be less effective or disallowed. The intention is to avoid situations where players can stack multiple copies of the same item for maximum benefits.
Item stacking will primarily apply to Mythic items, allowing players to combine powerful items with similar effects. For example, purchasing both Infinity Edge and Trinity Force will be possible, but stacking multiple Trinity Forces will not provide the full benefits of each item. It is also suggested that stacking will be limited to similar items and components, rather than complete items themselves.
