Destiny 2 players were in for a surprise during the Festival of the Lost event when they discovered updated descriptions for several Exotic armor pieces. These changes were not mentioned in the patch notes, leading to speculation that Bungie accidentally leaked upcoming updates.
One of the most significant changes affects the Hunter’s ST0MP-EE5 Exotic legs. The updated description indicates that these legs will now provide damage reduction while airborne, and it seems that the previous nerf requiring Hunters to have a charged class ability has been reverted.
It is unclear how the damage reduction will work, as the description states that players will “take less damage from combatants when airborne.” This change is likely intended to encourage the use of ST0MP-EE5 in PvE activities, but further details are yet to be revealed.
In addition to the ST0MP-EE5, other Exotic armor pieces have also received substantial changes. Shards of Galanor will now decrease the cooldown of the Super ability with Throwing Knife’s final blows, potentially allowing for more frequent use of the Blade Barrage Super.
Celestial Nighthawk will have a similar effect, but instead of melee final blows, precision final blows will reduce the Super’s cooldown. This change caters to players who prefer a sharpshooter playstyle.
It is important to note that these changes are currently only reflected in the armor descriptions and do not affect the actual gameplay. Players should be aware that the Exotics will still function as they did before the Festival of the Lost event.
Testing conducted by Fallout Plays confirms that the ST0MP-EE5 boots still behave the same as they have for the past few months, despite the updated description. This suggests that the gameplay changes for these Exotics will be implemented in a future update, likely in season 23.
Hunters can look forward to an exciting next season with these anticipated changes to their Exotic armor. Stay tuned for further updates and enjoy the Festival of the Lost event in the meantime.
