Leavanny: The Secret Shopkeeper of Syrupy Apples in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

superadmin

In the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet The Teal Mask DLC, a new Grass Pokémon called Dipplin was introduced along with its special evolution item, the Syrupy Apple. However, there might be another Grass Pokémon connected to Dipplin’s apples, according to an interesting fan theory.

In a Reddit thread on Oct. 10, a player pointed out something that many players might have missed about Kitakami’s fruit stand where you can buy Syrupy Apples. The Pokémon Leavanny is actually pictured in front of the stand in its Kitakami Pokédex entry, alongside its pre-evolutions Swadloon and Sewaddle.

This discovery led to a cute theory proposed by the original poster—what if Leavanny is the one running the Syrupy Apple stand? Since there are no NPCs around and the game mentions the lack of a shopkeeper, it’s possible that Leavanny and its family secretly keep the stand stocked with fresh fruit. If this theory is true, it gives us another reason to appreciate this sweet Bug/Grass Pokémon.

Another player supported this theory by mentioning that Leavanny is known to be a hardworking species, as it makes clothes for others out of leaves. It wouldn’t be surprising for Leavanny to pick up on other “humanlike behavior” such as running a fruit stand.

This theory could also explain why the Syrupy Apples are so cheap. Players have discovered that they can sell Syrupy Apples for more than they originally bought them for, allowing them to make easy money in Scarlet and Violet. Since Pokémon like Leavanny may not understand the concept of money and profit, they could be unintentionally selling themselves short. But then the question arises—what would Leavanny even do with the money?

Other players added to the theory by suggesting that there may have been a human behind the business at some point. It’s possible that this human abandoned the business and Leavanny took over, or they simply put their Pokémon to work to watch over the stand and keep it stocked. Either way, it showcases the hardworking nature of the Leavanny line.

There is also a chance that Leavanny has no connection to the Syrupy Apples other than the fact that they can be found in the same area—Mossfell Confluence in Kitakami. Perhaps Leavanny is just a bug that enjoys apples, but the shopkeeper theory is more appealing.
