Lords of the Fallen, an action RPG developed by Hexworks, has temporarily disabled its crossplay functionality due to performance issues. The game received mixed reviews upon release, with many players and critics complaining about poor performance, especially on PC. Frame drops, freezing problems, and laggy multiplayer made the game nearly unplayable for some.
Hexworks announced on X that they have disabled crossplay following player feedback. They are now working with Redpoint and Epic to optimize the feature and enhance its functionality. While crossplay is disabled, co-op and PvP multiplayer will still be available, but players can only interact with others on their chosen platform.
It’s important to note that Lords of the Fallen does not use the notorious Denuvo anti-cheat software, which is known to impact PC performance. The developer assures players that the game will never incorporate Denuvo.
There is no specific timeline provided for when crossplay functionality will be re-enabled. Players will have to wait until the issues are resolved.
Lords of the Fallen is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam. Despite the performance issues, the game has been praised for its intricate world design, stunning art direction, satisfying combat, and high replayability.
