Marvel Snap fans were quick to notice that the game’s newest card, Wolverine clone X-23, has no special animation when triggering her ability. For a game that has some awesome visual effects for its cards, it was quite noticeable.
One Snap player recently questioned this decision and received a quick answer from Second Dinner developers. The player asked why X-23 didn’t have an animation like Wolverine, and if she would eventually get a unique one.
Second Dinner principal game designer Glenn Jones explained that the team was focused on the PC launch and had limited resources for visual effects. However, they are now working on prioritizing and adding animations for cards that need improvement. Additionally, X-23’s design would require changes as she doesn’t have three claws on each hand like Wolverine.
The full PC launch of Marvel Snap includes a widescreen UI and main menu, which likely kept the animators busy. As a result, X-23’s animation was not a priority at the time.
Wolverine’s animation when he’s destroyed or discarded is impressive, with him popping back up, slashing the screen, and delivering his catchphrase. X-23’s ability triggers similarly, but without any visual or sound effects. However, this is expected to change in a future update.
With other cards also in line for visual and audio updates, players can look forward to seeing more improvements in the game.
