Players of Rainbow Six Siege were eagerly awaiting the arrival of the Master Chief elite skin for Sledge on Sept. 26. However, upon its release, many players were disappointed with the skin’s price and occasional animation bugs.
The biggest letdown for players was the hefty price tag. The complete bundle costs 2670 R6 Credits, equivalent to $20. Even battle pass owners, who receive a small discount, still have to pay 2403 R6 Credits, which is considered quite expensive.
Some players expressed their frustration, stating that crossover skins are already more expensive, and this one pushes the price even further. Comparatively, other crossover skins like Iana 2B from NieR: Automata cost 2160 R6 Credits.
Furthermore, players noticed that the animations of the Master Chief elite skin are sometimes broken. During the victory pose, the assault rifle or shotgun may merge with the gravity hammer, resulting in amusing yet glitchy visuals.
While some players mentioned that this issue only occurs during the preview in the menu, it still led to humorous images of Master Chief pointing a gun at his own head, accompanied by captions like “Me after my 15-hour ranked session.”
Although this skin bundle follows a trend seen in other games, with iconic characters commanding higher prices, some players worry that Ubisoft may be testing the limits of skin prices in their store.
Regardless of perspective, $20 is a significant amount to pay for a skin, and players hope it does not become the new standard in Siege. As for the animation bug, it is expected to be resolved in the coming week.
