Minthara’s Storyline in Baldur’s Gate 3 Divides Players

Xavier Ward

Players have mixed feelings about Minthara, one of the companions in Baldur’s Gate 3. While some players find her storyline emotional and compelling, others wish it had been handled differently.

One player on Reddit expressed their love for Minthara, claiming that her lines made them cry even after multiple playthroughs of the game. However, many players in the comments disagreed, citing the morally questionable choices required to recruit her.

In order to have Minthara join your party, you must side with the Goblins and raid the Emerald Grove alongside her. This decision involves murdering a camp of refugees and losing multiple companions, which some players find difficult to justify.

While some players understand the emotional impact of Minthara’s storyline, they believe it would have been more meaningful if there had been an option to spare her or recruit her without resorting to evil actions.

However, there are also players who argue that Minthara’s evil nature and goal of wiping out a camp of refugees make her unworthy of being saved or recruited in any circumstance.

The limited options for an evil playthrough and the consequences of siding with the Goblins have led players to believe that this aspect of the game could have been expanded upon by the developers, Larian Studios.

Fans of Minthara and those interested in an evil playthrough feel that the current restrictions block them from experiencing a significant portion of the game. They hope that a potential DLC will address these concerns and provide more opportunities for different playstyles.
