The Starfield modding group, responsible for October’s Community Patch, is facing a backlog of bugs in the game that are becoming increasingly difficult to fix without official modding toolkits. Despite preparing two years in advance for the game, the modders are still struggling to keep up with the issues encountered in Starfield since its launch in September.
Players have been experiencing performance issues, game crashes, and numerous bugs, prompting modders to step in and fix them. The recent Community Patch aimed to address these problems, but without official support, the modders are finding it challenging to tackle the additional issues that arise.
On November 1, Bethesda developers announced their own planned performance patch to fix several issues reported by players. However, fans were unimpressed as the modding community had already resolved these problems. This highlights the ongoing reliance on modders to solve the developers’ issues, with players often hoping for mods to add or change features since Bethesda’s response time is typically slow.
Mods play a crucial role in gaming communities, such as Skyrim, which still has a large player base despite launching in 2011. However, it’s not just about fun mods like Thomas the Tank Engine spaceships or Star Wars-themed additions. Official modding toolkits are essential for modders to create mods that seamlessly integrate with games, making it easier to fix performance issues, bugs, or add enjoyable pop culture references. Without these toolkits, modding becomes time-consuming and challenging.
Unfortunately, Starfield does not yet have an official modding toolkit, making it difficult for modders to address the never-ending list of bugs in the game. It is hoped that Bethesda will release an official modding toolkit soon, enabling mods to fix Starfield’s bugs more efficiently and with less struggle.
