After more than a decade, Call of Duty fans know that it’s not the size of the map that matters, but the gameplay. In the upcoming season one launch of Modern Warfare 3, players will be treated to a new small map called Meat, proving that excitement can come in compact packages.
During a recent stream with popular Call of Duty content creator Repullze, multiplayer creative director Greg Reisdorf revealed details about the new map. Meat is set in a slaughterhouse called East Bay Meats and is described as “really small.” This means that gameplay will be fast-paced and intense, leaving players with little time to catch their breath as they engage in medium-to-short range gunfights. Sub-machine guns and shotguns are likely to be the weapons of choice on this map, as longer sightlines for sniper rifles and assault rifles are limited.
Currently, the only small map available in Modern Warfare 3 is the classic 2009 map, Rust. In Rust, players are constantly engaged in close-quarters combat, with grenades flying and close-quarter specialists sprinting around to catch enemies off guard. However, Meat promises a fresh experience with its own unique layout and gameplay dynamics.
Season one is set to begin in early December, and Meat will be one of the two new maps introduced on day one. Get ready for some rapid-fire action and stay on your toes as you navigate the tight spaces of this exciting new small map.
