Nerfs Incoming for the Judge Shotgun in VALORANT Patch 7.09

superadmin

The ultra-aggressive run-and-gun Judge players in VALORANT will soon face some changes as the fully-automatic shotgun is set to receive nerfs in the upcoming patch.

In the next VALORANT patch, the Judge will undergo adjustments that will affect its running and jumping spread. The weapon’s mag size will be reduced from seven to five, disappointing many players who were expecting more changes. However, Riot has a couple more adjustments planned.

The jumping spread of the Judge will increase from 1.25 to 2.25, while the running spread will increase from 0.10 to 0.75. Spread value measures the likelihood of a fired shot deviating from its crosshair, with higher values indicating greater deviation. Only three weapons in VALORANT have no spread on their first shot: the Operator, the Marshal, and the Guardian.

Currently, the Judge has a significantly lower running and jumping spread compared to other weapons like the Vandal. The Vandal has a running and jumping spread of five and ten respectively, making it nearly impossible to achieve accuracy while moving or jumping. The upcoming increases in spread values for the Judge aim to reduce its effectiveness while mobile.

Riot’s goal is to sharpen the Judge’s identity as a hunker-down style shotgun and force players to be more efficient with only five shots instead of seven. While Judge players hiding in corners may still pose a threat, Raze and Jett players flying in to blast opponents will be less dangerous.

The VALORANT Patch 7.09 is scheduled to go live on October 31, coinciding with the launch of Episode Seven, Act Three.
