Netplay for Palestine 2 was an online charity tournament held on Nov. 12, dedicated to supporting victims in Gaza through the game Super Smash Bros. Melee. The event brought together over 300 players, including top competitors like Salt, Zamu, Ben, and KJH. Livestreamed on MeleeEveryday and Level1’s Twitch channels, the tournament not only showcased high-level gameplay but also raised awareness for the cause. The result was astounding, as the tournament surpassed its initial goal of $10,000 and currently stands at an impressive $17,142.
The proceeds from this tournament will be directed to MECA, a nonprofit organization that provides direct aid to families in Palestine, Iraq, and Lebanon. MECA’s support is crucial, as Palestinians are currently deprived of basic necessities such as sustainable food and clean water. By contributing to MECA, the tournament participants and viewers are directly helping these families survive and thrive.
In addition to financial support, the tournament aimed to give Palestinians a platform to share their stories and art.
