Ravensburger is sticking to its original release schedule for the upcoming Rise of the Floodborn set of Disney Lorcana. The set is set to launch on November 17, and spoilers are starting to drop. The latest spoiler features Cogsworth, the Grandfather Clock, showcasing the design team’s creativity in creating a card that perfectly aligns with the new mechanic, Resist.
Cogsworth, Grandfather Clock, is a Sapphire color card that may bring the sleeper color into the meta. With a casting cost of five, this legendary card has a Shift ability, allowing players to Shift for three on top of their Characters named Cogsworth. It also has the Ward ability, preventing opponents from choosing this Character except to Challenge. Additionally, it has the Unwind ability, granting all other Characters Resist one, reducing damage dealt to them by one.
The impact of Cogsworth, Grandfather Clock on the meta is yet to be fully understood, as there are currently no Cogsworth Characters in The First Chapter, and none have been revealed for the second. However, its 2/5 stats make it a valuable asset when paired with Amber and Rapunzel, Gifted with Healing. Keeping Cogsworth, Grandfather Clock alive is worth the investment, as it provides all other Characters with Resist one. It also fits well within Steel and Ruby archetypes that have a Challenge strategy.
Players will have the opportunity to test out Cogsworth, Grandfather Clock starting on November 17 through local game stores. The official launch of Rise of the Floodborn is scheduled for December 1.
