Wizards of the Coast has unveiled a new Magic: The Gathering Planeswalker during the first Lost Caverns of Ixalan spoilers. Quintorius Kand, a five-drop Planeswalker, features a unique passive ability that supports Red archetypes and introduces a new mechanic called Discover.

Quintorius Kand begins with a loyalty of four and possesses three loyalty abilities, along with a powerful passive ability. The Planeswalker’s passive ability triggers whenever a spell is cast from exile, dealing two damage to each opponent and granting the player two life.
The plus-one ability of Quintorius Kand allows players to create a 3/2 Red and White spirit creature token, providing protection for the Planeswalker. The minus-three ability introduces the new mechanic Discover Four. Lastly, the minus-six ability enables players to exile any number of target cards from their graveyard, adding Red mana for each card exiled. These cards can then be played during the turn.
Quintorius Kand brings a unique twist to Red strategies by incorporating drain and gain mechanics. While Red and White are not typically associated with these strategies, the Planeswalker changes the game by dealing damage to opponents and gaining life whenever a spell is cast from exile. The tokens created by Quintorius Kand also serve as a defensive measure.
Players will have the opportunity to test out the powerful abilities of Quintorius Kand when Lost Caverns of Ixalan launches in local game stores on November 10th.
