Nexus Blitz Champions Receive Severe Nerfs and Buffs for Balance Adjustments

Tim Price

Nexus Blitz, the beloved game mode in League of Legends, has made a comeback after a long absence. However, certain champions have proven to be too strong in this mode, leading to 13 champions receiving significant nerfs specifically for Nexus Blitz this weekend. These changes aim to ensure a fair and balanced gameplay experience for all players.

The full list of buffs and nerfs was revealed by Riot tech designer “CptCubone” on Twitter, and these adjustments are now live in League. The smaller map of Nexus Blitz, set in the Temple of Lily and Lotus, requires different balancing compared to the Summoner’s Rift. This is to prevent certain champions from having an unfair advantage in the new setting.

According to stats site Mobalytics, champions like Brand and Kog’Maw have been dominating in the smaller jungle due to their fast clear and ability to easily gank upper lanes with their crowd control. Additionally, champions like Seraphine have been causing trouble in the lanes with their high damage output. Certain minigames in Nexus Blitz limit mobility, making it difficult to counter poke-heavy champions such as Taliyah and Zyra.

To address these issues, assassins like Akali and Evelynn have received buffs to their ability haste and damage taken, improving their survivability in the close-quarters combat of Nexus Blitz. However, there are still some champions that could benefit from further adjustments.

Nerfs Buffs Hotfixes
Brand – 10% less damage dealt, 5% bonus damage taken Akali – +20 bonus Ability Haste, 10% less damage taken The Prize Fight event will properly reset cooldowns on round start.
Jinx – 5% less damage dealt, 5% bonus damage taken Bard – +20 bonus Ability Haste, 10% less damage taken, 20% more heal/shield power Red Buff and Blue Buff will no longer randomly spawn additional buff pickups.
Kayle – 10% less damage dealt, 5% bonus damage taken Evelynn – +20 bonus Ability Haste, 10% less damage taken
Kog’Maw – 10% less damage dealt, 5% bonus damage taken LeBlanc – +20 bonus Ability Haste, 10% less damage taken
Maokai – 5% less heal/shield power, 5% bonus damage taken Nidalee – 5% bonus damage dealt, 10% less damage taken, 10% bonus heal/shield power
Nasus – 5% less damage dealt Nunu & Willump – +20 bonus Ability Haste, 10% less damage taken, 5% bonus damage dealt
Seraphine – 5% less damage dealt, 10% less heal/shield power Thresh – +20 bonus Ability Haste, 10% less damage taken, 5% bonus damage dealt
Sivir – 5% less damage dealt, 5% bonus damage taken
Sona – 5% less damage dealt, 5% less heal/shield power
Swain – 5% less damage dealt, 5% bonus damage taken
Taliyah – 5% less damage dealt, 10 less ability haste
Ziggs – 5% less damage dealt, 10 less ability haste
Zyra – 5% less damage dealt, 5% bonus damage taken

These balance adjustments aim to create a more enjoyable and fair experience for players in Nexus Blitz. By addressing the overpowered champions and providing buffs to those in need, Riot Games is actively working towards maintaining a balanced gameplay environment. Players can now dive back into Nexus Blitz and experience the excitement of this unique game mode once again.
