Outrage Over Mortal Kombat 1’s Pricey Festive Fatalities Bundle

Derek Morgan

Warner Bros. Games has faced backlash from fans over the pricing of the Seasonal Fatalities bundle for Mortal Kombat 1. The bundle, which includes festive Fatalities, has been priced at around $30, angering many players. This comes after the game received several updates and new content since its launch in September.

The Halloween fatality was released on Oct. 27, and players who already own it will receive the bundle for free. However, those who don’t own it will have to purchase the bundle separately. Fans argue that paid fatalities should not be included in a full-priced game, especially considering the premium edition costs $109.99 and does not include the premium fatalities.

Players have expressed frustration with the game’s monetization system, calling it greedy and unfair. Some have even threatened to boycott the game, stating that everything feels like a microtransaction. They have also suggested that the publisher should provide more ways for players to earn in-game currency without having to spend real money.

Other grievances include the fact that players who bought the DLC character Omniman still have to pay for his voice announcer pack. Fans believe that the publisher should stop charging exorbitant prices for skins, which currently cost $10 each.

While the price of the Seasonal Fatalities bundle has not been revealed, Warner Bros. made the decision to offer it for free to Halloween fatality owners due to the negative feedback received about DLC prices. The Halloween fatality itself can be purchased for 1,200 Dragon Krystals, equivalent to roughly $10.

Despite the publisher’s attempts to address player concerns, fans remain dissatisfied with Mortal Kombat 1’s monetization practices. Warner Bros. seems to be taking note of the criticisms, but it has not been enough to appease the disgruntled player base.
