Overwatch 2 Battle Pass and Shop Changes Coming in Early 2024

Blizzard plans to revamp the battle pass and shop systems in Overwatch 2 by early 2024. Players have expressed their desires for improvements, and Blizzard is taking note of their feedback.

One of the top requests from the community is the ability to level up older battle passes, similar to what is offered in Halo: Infinite. This would allow players to unlock Mythic skins that they may have missed out on if they didn’t reach the maximum level during a particular season. With Blizzard now under Microsoft’s ownership, there is hope that this change will be implemented.

Another suggestion is to make battle pass skins available for purchase in the shop after the season ends. This would provide an alternative way for players to acquire popular skins, addressing the recent controversy surrounding Moira’s Lilith skin. While not ideal, it would still give players the opportunity to obtain the skins they desire.

Players have also pointed out that the battle passes in Overwatch 2 lack premium currency rewards to buy the next battle pass, which is a common feature in games like Fortnite and Call of Duty. Adding this feature would increase the value of the battle pass and provide players with more incentive to participate.

Furthermore, players feel that the current battle pass rewards are lackluster, filled with uninteresting sprays, souvenirs, and player icons. They would prefer to see more creative and meaningful rewards, such as titles and unique items like the memes-as-sprays feature in VALORANT.

Lastly, players believe that new heroes should not be locked behind cosmetic progression and should be available either at earlier tiers or immediately. Since heroes are an integral part of the gameplay, it is important for players to have access to them without having to grind through cosmetic unlocks.

According to Overwatch Cavalry, the battle pass and shop changes are a top priority for the Overwatch 2 team. Players can expect significant improvements in these areas early next year.
