Overwatch 2 season seven kicks off today, featuring a new Mythic skin for Hanzo called Onryō. However, players will be disappointed to learn that this skin offers fewer customization options compared to previous Mythic skins. Unlockable at tier 80 of the premium battle pass, the Onryō skin only allows players to choose between two bow options and three color schemes. This limited selection means Hanzo mains won’t be able to create as unique of a look as players with other Mythic skins like Genji, Kiriko, Ana, or Tracer.
In contrast, previous Mythic skins offered at least three categories of customization with multiple options in each category. For example, Genji’s Cyber Demon skin had four categories and a total of 54 possible combinations, allowing players to mix and match options for a truly unique appearance. Even recent seasons with three categories still provided 18 different combinations, offering some flexibility to players.
It’s unclear why Blizzard decided to limit the customization options for the Onryō skin. Many players would have appreciated the ability to change Hanzo’s shoulder armor, quiver, or pants. It’s possible that the developers didn’t have enough time to implement additional options. Regardless of the reason, Hanzo mains may feel a mix of excitement and disappointment with this new skin.
