Overwatch 2’s developers are planning to make changes to some support heroes in the upcoming mid-cycle patch. The changes aim to address the rising power level of support heroes and reduce their overall sustain and survivability. The patch is expected to be released in early November.
Blizzard acknowledges the complaints from players about the frustrating state of support heroes, whose utility and survivability have become increasingly dominant. The developers intend to target the utility of these heroes and create windows of vulnerability without making them feel helpless, as they did at launch.
While Blizzard has not revealed which heroes will be affected by the changes, it is likely that heroes such as Ana, Baptiste, Illari, and Mercy will receive nerfs to their survivability and possibly damage. However, it is unlikely that support heroes like Lucio, Zenyatta, or Brigitte will see significant nerfs due to their current viability and status in the meta.
