After years of anticipation, Overwatch players can finally rejoice as the long-awaited tank hero Mauga has been unveiled in Overwatch 2. In a teaser video released during the BlizzCon opening ceremony, Blizzard humorously acknowledges the wait and asks if Mauga was worth it.
The two-minute video showcases Mauga’s gameplay, highlighting his immense size and dual-wielding Gatling guns. One gun, Gunny, sets enemies ablaze with its incendiary rounds, while the other, Cha-Cha, deals critical hits to burned foes. Mauga’s abilities include an unstoppable charge called “Overrun,” a healing ability called “Cardiac Overdrive,” and an ultimate ability called “Cage Fight” that prevents enemies from escaping and grants him unlimited ammo.
According to Overwatch 2’s art director Dion Rogers, Mauga is designed to be easy to learn but difficult to master. While he won’t be officially added to the game until the start of season eight in December, players can test him out in all game modes except for competitive from November 3 to 5.
Prior to the BlizzCon opening ceremony, a leak from the Nintendo Switch shop hinted at Mauga’s arrival in Overwatch 2, further fueling the excitement among fans.
