Payday 3 Matchmaking Issues: Potential New Features to Improve Communication

Tim Price

Payday 3 has had a rocky launch due to serious matchmaking service outages. However, the game may soon receive several new features to address these issues and improve the overall experience for players. One of the most requested changes is the addition of voice or text chat in the game’s lobbies, allowing for better communication between players. While there is no confirmed timeline for this feature, it is considered a high priority from a quality-of-life perspective.

Effective communication is crucial in Payday 3 heists, as strategies and playstyles can greatly impact the success of a mission. Currently, players are unable to discuss tactics or coordinate effectively before starting a match. By introducing chat options in the lobby, players will have the opportunity to plan their approach and ensure smoother gameplay.

In addition to improved communication, the developers are also considering implementing a filter option for matchmaking based on heist type (stealth or loud). This feature would allow players to find teammates who prefer the same playstyle, enhancing coordination and teamwork. However, the priority for the development team is currently resolving the matchmaking issues before evaluating this potential addition.

Another quality-of-life change being considered is the inclusion of an “unready” button in the lobby. Currently, once a player presses “Ready,” they are committed to their chosen loadout. The addition of an “unready” button would allow players to revisit and modify their loadouts before starting a match, providing more flexibility and customization options.

While the matchmaking issues are still being addressed, the developers are actively working to restore full server functionality. Once the connection problems are resolved, the team plans to implement these potential new features to enhance the gameplay experience in Payday 3.
