Payday 3 players are in for a treat with the game’s upcoming free content update. Developer Starbreeze has listened to fan feedback and made several improvements to address player concerns. The update includes a much-needed progression overhaul, the return of two beloved heists from Payday 2, and the introduction of a new skill tree.
The release date for the update hasn’t been announced yet, but according to the development team, players can expect to download it “very soon.”
Two classic heists from Payday 2, Cook-Off and Murky Station, will be making their way to Payday 3 with some adjustments to fit the game’s new criminal landscape. Lead producer Andreas Häll Penninger assures fans that these missions will still retain their iconic identity.
Cook-Off and Murky Station were highly popular in Payday 2, with Cook-Off being a favorite for its lucrative rewards. When these heists return in Payday 3, players will also be greeted by the familiar voice of Locke, who will guide them through the missions. Additionally, each heist will feature a new song composed by Gustavo Coutinho, the composer for Payday 3.
The update also addresses the issue of challenge progression, which has been a point of contention since the game’s release. Previously, players could only gain Infamy by completing challenges, meaning that if they didn’t meet any objectives during a heist, they would make no progress. However, with the upcoming update, players will receive Infamy Points after each heist completion, ensuring that progress is always being made towards the next Infamy level.
Furthermore, the challenge system will undergo UI adjustments to make objectives clearer and even provide recommendations to help players continue progressing. This feature was teased in post-launch livestreams and is now being implemented in the content update.
Lastly, the Transporter skill line, which allows players to carry more than one bag, will finally be introduced in Payday 3. This skill tree focuses on enhancing bag carrying and movement abilities, offering a range of useful skills.
While the exact release date for Payday 3’s next update is still unknown, fans can expect it to arrive relatively soon. Starbreeze has been working on improving its update process, so players may not have to wait long before they can enjoy the new content.
