Payday 3’s Server Issues Continue to Plague the Game

Derek Morgan

As of Sept. 25, Payday 3’s Steam rating is plummeting and the game’s servers remain unplayable a week after its early access launch on Sept. 18. The server problems were initially seen as a launch issue, but now they are becoming a major problem for players.

Currently, Payday 3 has over 20,000 reviews on Steam, with 70 percent of them being negative. The main complaint is the constant server issues that make the game only playable for a few hours each day, if at all.

One Steam user summed it up perfectly, stating, “Starbreeze has created an incredible successor to their beloved PAYDAY 2. Too bad you can’t play it.” This sentiment seems to be the consensus among players, as this review has been voted as the most helpful.

When Payday 3 was reviewed on Sept. 22, the focus was on the game’s design and charm, with a mention of the need for improvements in the matchmaking system. The state of the servers was not emphasized, as it was expected that the issues would be resolved quickly. However, as time goes on, it becomes harder to defend the developers.

The lack of an offline solo play mode is a major frustration for players. If the servers are down, players should still be able to heist alone, practice stealth routes, and learn maps. But currently, even running a heist with bots is impossible when the servers are down.

It is crucial for the developers to address these server issues promptly. While some server problems can be expected with anticipated releases, they should be resolved within a day or two. The discontentment among fans could be alleviated if an offline mode was available.

In conclusion, Payday 3’s server issues are severely impacting the game’s playability and causing frustration among players. The developers need to prioritize resolving these problems and consider implementing an offline solo play mode to improve the overall experience for fans.
