Players Call for New Solution to Address Griefing in League of Legends

superadmin

Riot Games recently introduced a new punishment system for toxic players in League of Legends, but now players are demanding a solution to tackle a growing issue of griefing in non-ranked matches.

The new changes require players reported for toxic behavior to play five non-ranked games, such as ARAM, blind pick, or draft pick, before they can participate in ranked matches again. While this may seem like an effective way to discipline misbehaving players, it has had an immediate negative impact on casual players.

On the League subreddit, players have noticed a significant increase in intentional feeding by players in ARAM matches following the implementation of the new punishments. This has led the community to question whether Riot needs to make further adjustments to the system.

Since toxic players only need to complete five games, they are more likely to rush through them by deliberately dying multiple times. This either forces their team to surrender early or allows the opposing team to secure a quick victory.

By redirecting these toxic players to other game modes, a whole community of casual, non-ranked players is being caught in the crossfire between Riot and these repeat offenders. Some players suggest that Riot should require toxic players to win five non-ranked games instead of just playing them.

This would compel them to work together with their teammates to achieve victory, rather than simply sabotaging the game. However, this approach could potentially lead to an increase in verbal toxicity in casual games, as these competitive players might become overly focused on winning in modes where no LP (League Points) can be gained.

In conclusion, the new punishment system still requires further refinement to ensure it does not inadvertently impact other players in the long run. Riot Games needs to find a balance that effectively addresses toxic behavior without negatively affecting the overall player experience.
