In a Reddit post on Sept. 24, some players of Baldur’s Gate 3 expressed their opinion that Halsin, the Druid character, should have remained a camp follower instead of becoming a party member. Their argument is based on the fact that there is already another Druid companion, Jaheira, who joins around the same time. They find it odd to have two Druids but no Bard, Monk, or Sorcerer in the party.
While some players in the comments pointed out that Halsin and Jaheira have different builds and fill different roles, many agreed that Larian Studios could have included more companions with diverse classes. One popular suggestion was adding Alfira, a Tiefling Bard, to the roster.
However, the author of the post clarified that they actually like Halsin as a character. Their main concern is that he joins the party later in the story, often after Jaheira is already present. To address this, players proposed that Halsin should be recruitable earlier in the game, perhaps after the battle for the Emerald Grove or upon saving him. This would allow players to experience having a Druid companion sooner and develop a stronger connection with Halsin.
Overall, the debate revolves around the inclusion of Halsin as a party member and the potential for more diverse companion options in Baldur’s Gate 3.
