Players are expressing their dissatisfaction with the villainous path in Baldur’s Gate 3, claiming it is one of the most unrewarding aspects of the game. By choosing to be evil, players miss out on quests, companions, vendors, legendary items, and even the opportunity to embrace Illithid Powers. They are demanding a complete overhaul of the unbalanced evil route.
Baldur’s Gate 3 offers players the freedom to create any character they desire, whether it be wholly good, mischievous, or tailored to romance their favorite companion. However, opting for the path of villainy comes with significant drawbacks. For instance, killing the druids in Druid’s Grove results in losing up to three companions, Illithid tadpoles, vendors, and more.
Players argue that the evil path should have been fully developed instead of the “half-baked” version currently available. They believe that an extensive evil route should have included villainous quests, unique items, companions, NPCs, merchants, and rewards. Additionally, they suggest incorporating different levels of evil, such as lawful or chaotic evil, to enhance the gameplay experience.
To make the evil path more immersive, players propose the ability to brainwash companions and NPCs as a benefit of embracing Illithid Powers. These additions would add intrigue to the villainous role. Currently, being evil feels unbalanced and not worth pursuing due to the significant losses incurred.
Players hope that Larian Studios, the developers of Baldur’s Gate 3, will address these concerns in a future update or introduce a DLC specifically focused on the villain arc. Without substantial improvements, the current evil path remains insufficient and fails to provide a rewarding experience for players seeking a darker role.
