Players Experiencing Audio Bugs in VALORANT After Recent Patch

Tim Price

Riot Games released a minor VALORANT patch last week, but it seems to have caused major audio issues for some players. Users are reporting hearing phantom agents and random sound effects during matches, disrupting gameplay.

Patch 7.06, released on Sept. 19, brought new competitive queue restrictions, a new home screen animation, and additional voice lines for Sage. However, players have encountered significant audio problems since the update, with agent voice lines and ability sound effects not functioning as expected.

One of the most common issues reported by players is the incorrect death noise being played when a teammate is eliminated. Each agent has a unique death grunt or cry, but the wrong agent’s sound is being broadcasted to the team. For example, players have heard Omen’s death grunt when their Sage died, even though there was no Omen in the game.

VALORANT relies on an immersive communication system that includes voice lines and sound indicators for abilities. This allows players to understand their teammates’ intentions even without voice chat. However, the recent patch has disrupted this system, causing confusion and miscommunication.

Some players speculate that the distorted voice over comms makes the death grunts sound robotic, leading to the confusion of hearing KAY/O’s voice when a non-robot teammate dies. However, other players have reported additional audio issues unrelated to agent voice lines.

Players have experienced bugs such as continuous Sova scan pings that persist for several rounds and Raze Boombot noises that won’t stop. These audio glitches can be highly distracting and impact gameplay.

It is hoped that Riot Games will address these audio bugs and release a quick fix in a future patch. Until then, players will have to navigate the game with these disruptive audio issues.
