Players of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are growing increasingly frustrated with the lack of punishment for griefers, who are ruining online battles without consequence. Despite numerous reports, the developer has yet to take action against these disruptive players, exacerbating the problem.
In a Reddit thread from Oct. 24, one player shared screenshots of a user named “PokeSVSucks” repeatedly sabotaging online battles by refusing to select their team, forcing others to wait indefinitely in the lobby or leave. This behavior had previously been criticized in a thread on Oct. 1.
Many players suspect that “PokeSVSucks” is not a single individual but rather a group of accounts working together to ruin the game experience for others. Multiple users have reported encountering the same issue, making it unlikely that one person could cause such widespread disruption alone.
“They’re bots. Also, there’s about a thousand or so of these things so expect to run into those a lot,” wrote one top-voted comment in the thread.
Players are perplexed as to why someone would go to the trouble of creating a bot solely to ruin the online battles of others in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Since leaving the battle results in the lobby dissolving and no points gained, it seems there is no tangible benefit for the user engaging in this behavior.
Frustration also stems from the developer’s failure to ban these disruptive accounts. However, if there are indeed multiple accounts involved, they may be getting banned without players noticing.
Some players expressed a desire for a block button or an ignore list to personally address the issue while waiting for a more comprehensive solution from the developer.
The developer has a zero-tolerance policy for players who manipulate game data files to gain an unfair advantage in online battles. However, detecting and proving griefing can be more challenging, especially when the disruptive players are simply idle in lobbies. The developer’s current approach to addressing this issue remains unclear.
