Players in Mortal Kombat 1 Have an Unfair Advantage Depending on Their Position

Xavier Ward

Players of Mortal Kombat 1 have recently discovered a significant issue that gives an unfair advantage to those in the Player One slot. This advantage affects various characters and can impact the entire roster. The problem has been confirmed in both offline and online matches, causing frustration among players.

A YouTuber named mrAPchem released a video demonstrating how certain combos and motions can be performed by Player One but not by Player Two. This advantage exists regardless of the character or stance being used. The issue has been tested and proven on the PS5 and PC versions of the game.

Many players have experienced dropped combos and difficulty executing moves while playing as Player Two. This disadvantage can lead to lower damage output and a higher likelihood of losing matches, even in ranked play. It has left players questioning their own skill level and wondering how much of their struggles were due to the game’s mechanics.

This advantage for Player One is not entirely unprecedented in fighting games. Similar imbalances have been observed in games like Super Smash Bros. and Tekken 7. However, the extent of the advantage in Mortal Kombat 1 is particularly severe, especially considering the game’s focus on online play.

Netherrealm Studios, the developer of Mortal Kombat 1, is aware of the issue and has marked it as “Investigation in Progress” on their bug reporting page. While this indicates that they are working on a fix, it is unclear how long it will take to resolve the problem.

Overall, this unfair advantage in Mortal Kombat 1 has caused players to reconsider their approach to the game. Many are hesitant to invest significant time into playing until the issue is resolved, and others are reevaluating their past losses in light of this newfound information.

Warner Bros. Games and Netherrealm Studios have been contacted for comment regarding this issue.
