Players of Baldur’s Gate 3 have taken to Reddit to share their most amusing and embarrassing blunders during their initial playthrough of the game. With the game’s vast freedom and unpredictable dice rolls, it’s only natural that players will make some rookie mistakes. However, these mishaps often turn into funny anecdotes that can be shared with fellow gamers.
One player, Wafflebubble, admitted to continuously postponing the quest to find potential party member Karlach because they mistakenly believed she was a boss fight rather than a recruitable character.
Another player, Consistent-Wafer2580, revealed that they failed to recruit Shadowheart because they accidentally killed her during the game’s opening section. They had blown up the pod she was trapped in, thinking that removing power would free her. Unfortunately, it only turned her into ashes.
Accidentally getting party members killed seems to be a common occurrence, as several players shared similar stories. LadyMidnight022, for example, didn’t realize they could free Astarion during the Cazador boss fight, resulting in the vampire turning into goo. Thankfully, dead party members can be revived.
DrFridayTK had a few blunders of their own, including repeatedly jumping to their death due to misclicking on a jump. This is a mistake many players have likely made at least once. Another player, lucasplays_yt, had a stroke of bad luck, failing every skill check to pull party member Gale out of his portal, even with a paladin character and assistance from Shadowheart. It left them in shock.
It’s refreshing to see that the Reddit thread was created in good humor and not to mock or ridicule players. Even experienced RPG fans are bound to make mistakes while playing Baldur’s Gate 3. This further demonstrates the game’s quality, as it’s not just players’ successes that make for great stories.
