In Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, players are looking for ways to make use of their high-level Pokémon without making the NPC battles too easy. They have come up with some interesting suggestions to add more challenges to the game.
One player on Reddit suggested that Game Freak should allow level 100 Pokémon to reset their levels, similar to a new game+ mode. This would give players the opportunity to use their favorite Pokémon on new adventures, even if they were previously at a high level. It would add an extra challenge to battles against NPCs.
Another idea proposed by players is to introduce “secret bosses” with teams of level 80-88 Pokémon, similar to the iconic battle against Red in HeartGold and SoulSilver. These secret bosses could feature popular characters from previous generations, such as Leon from Gen VIII or Cynthia from Gen IV.
Some players believe that The Teal Mask DLC took a step in the right direction by introducing more challenging battles with the Ogre Clan NPCs. Although their teams are only in the upper-level 70s, they have competitive movesets and builds. For example, some Ogre Clan members have weather teams, which adds difficulty to the battles.
Overall, players want more challenging battles for their high-level Pokémon. While Pokémon is designed to be accessible to younger players, having the option to increase the difficulty would be appreciated by the older crowd. It would provide a new level of excitement without players having to create their own rules, like the popular Nuzlocke challenge.
