PlayStation 5 Cloud Streaming Feature Launching for PlayStation Plus Premium Members

superadmin

Sony has announced that the new cloud streaming feature for the PlayStation 5 will be available this month for PlayStation Plus Premium members. This feature will allow users to stream supported digital games from the PlayStation catalog, game trials, and any supported PS5 games that subscribers already own.

According to Hideaki Nishino, senior vice president of platform experience at PlayStation, the launch of this feature will include certain big games, with plans to add hundreds of PS5 titles in the future. Some of the games that will be available for streaming include Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Horizon Forbidden West, Ghost of Tsushima, Mortal Kombat 11, and Saints Row IV. Plus members will also have access to game trials for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and The Calisto Protocol.

However, the fan reaction to this announcement has been focused on a different aspect. Many fans are asking if the cloud streaming feature will work with PlayStation Portal. PlayStation Portal is a remote player device announced by Sony for the PS5, but it has limitations such as requiring the actual PS5 console to be on and both devices needing to be connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

Unfortunately, it seems that the Portal does not support cloud streaming. The PlayStation blog post explicitly states that PS VR2 games and games streamed through PlayStation Plus Premium’s cloud streaming are not supported on the Portal. This decision by PlayStation may have disappointed fans who were hoping to use cloud streaming on the handheld device.

In conclusion, the new cloud streaming feature for the PlayStation 5 will be available to PlayStation Plus Premium members this month. While there is excitement about the feature itself, many fans are disappointed that it won’t work with PlayStation Portal. Sony has clarified that the Portal does not support cloud streaming, which may have diminished its appeal for some users.
