Good news for PlayStation players! The highly anticipated open beta for Modern Warfare 3 has finally begun, allowing everyone to experience the new Call of Duty game for a limited time. However, this may be the last time PlayStation users have exclusive access to CoD betas, operators, and DLC packs, as Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision is imminent.
To celebrate the open beta, Sledgehammer Games has introduced the iconic map “Rust” and a new mode called “Kill Confirmed.” This addition has been met with positive feedback from players, providing valuable insights for the developers.
Rust joins the map pool alongside Favela, Estate, and Skidrow in this weekend’s beta. Next weekend, Highrise will be added to the mix, along with the Search and Destroy mode. Rust, being a small map, appeals to players who enjoy fast-paced action and intense gunfights.
Modern Warfare 3’s decision to include all 16 launch maps from its predecessor, Modern Warfare 2, offers a sense of familiarity for veteran players. However, new players may need some time to get acquainted with these classic locations. Additionally, the introduction of new modes like Hardpoint adds a fresh twist to these beloved maps.
The open beta for MW3 on PlayStation will run until 12pm CT on October 10th. It will then resume on October 12th, granting early access to PC and Xbox players.
