Pokémon Go Event in Tokyo’s Asakusa District

Tim Price

Pokémon Go players in Tokyo, Japan are in for a treat as a special event is set to take place in the district of Asakusa on November 25th. This event will feature rare Pokémon spawns and decorations that will adorn the famous Shinto Shrine area.

The focus of the event will be on the Route feature, with eight in-person routes planned to run between November 25th and December 10th, covering most of the Asakusa district. Players can follow these routes, which stretch from the renowned shrine to Skytree Tower, with the help of Pokémon-themed artwork inspired by Ukiyo-e.

Completing any of the eight official routes will earn players in-person rewards, while stocks last. These rewards will serve as souvenirs for their efforts. Fortunately, they won’t be Pokémon cards, so we won’t have a repeat of the issues at the Van Gogh Museum in September.

During the event, players can expect to encounter a variety of rare Pokémon spawns, including legendary Pokémon such as Moltres, Articuno, Zapdos, Tornadus, and Thundurus. These Pokémon will appear as extra spawns in the Asakusa area, in addition to the scheduled spawns for November.

Not only will players have the chance to encounter legendary Pokémon, but they will also come across other notable Pokémon like Hisuian Growlithe, Darumaka, and Dragonite. These Pokémon stand out and would be a delight to find in the wild, especially if there’s a chance of encountering them as Shiny Pokémon. However, it seems that there won’t be a shiny boost during this event, unlike the popular Pokémon Go Fests held every summer.

We can only hope that similar events will be organized in other cities in the future. For now, it seems that these special events are exclusive to Japan. Lucky players!
