Pokémon Go players are furious and ready to storm Niantic’s headquarters if a critical raid bug isn’t resolved soon. The bug causes the game to glitch out and display a blank screen, leaving players unable to capture rare, shiny, or legendary Pokémon. One couple experienced this nightmare firsthand.
Raids have always been a popular feature in Pokémon Go, setting it apart from traditional Nintendo releases. Instead of relying on luck to encounter rare Pokémon, players can engage in raids to battle and capture powerful Pokémon.
For this couple, capturing a Shadow Zapdos should have been a simple task. They drove 20 minutes to a raid location, only to be disappointed when the game kicked them out and prevented them from rejoining. They left empty-handed.
At first, everything seemed fine. But then the game bugged out, showing a white screen. The couple couldn’t heal their Pokémon or rejoin the lobby to continue the battle. Restarting the game didn’t help either, and the wife was defeated by Zapdos. They even wasted all their Shadow Shards.
Many comments on the Reddit thread share similar experiences with buggy raid battles. One player reported encountering three bugs in just one week, but Niantic’s support team ignored their complaints.
It’s clear that Pokémon Go is prone to crashes unless Niantic takes these issues seriously. With Detective Pikachu’s return and several community events planned for October, changes need to be made. Otherwise, players will be demanding answers from Niantic.
